JAHS
Publishing Group is thrilled to announce that Margaret
Dureke's book, How
to Succeed Against All Odds has been selected
to be included on the 2003 Our Black Authors Foundation
(OBA) Best Seller List. In notifying of this selection,
Charlene Harry, Director of Our Black Authors Foundation
(www.ourblackauthors.com)
said, "This book has enriched our staff readers with
words of encouragement. How to Succeed Against All
Odds makes the reader feel ten feet tall. It is
a message of hope that people of all ages and races
should be required to read."
On
January 15, Margaret Dureke was the featured speaker
at a luncheon and held by the Greater Bowie Chamber
of Commerce's Women in Business. The response to her
motivational presentation has been enthusiastic. The
event was covered by The Bowie-Blade News in
its Thursday, January 23rd edition (Page C11), and included
a picture of Margaret with Cathy Woods, Chairperson
of the Women in Business Committee, and Lisa Gibson
of Woodward Estates, who hosted the event.
The
January 2, 2003 edition of the Gazette Newspaper
in Prince George's County, Maryland published a rave
review of John O. Dureke Jr.'s book, The
Horrors Of War From The Eyes Of A Child. Dureke,
inspired by the violence of Sept. 11, 2001, wrote the
book about his childhood memories of the Biafran civil
war in Nigeria. The book describes his experiences as
a boy forced to flee a deadly conflict. During three
years of civil war, Dureke, his siblings and his parents
were refugees, moving from village to village within
Biafra.
An
article by Margaret Dureke was recently published by
OUR SOCIETY, a London-based magazine. The edition
with the article is now available.
Margaret
also has an article, "The Power of Belief," in the monthly
newspaper, THE ANOINTED PATH. Please check your
local library for a copy.
